Plastic Molding Overview

Plastic injection molding produces plastic parts by forcing molten plastic into a mold where it cools and hardens. In plastic injection, granular plastic is fed by gravity from a hopper into a heated barrel. As the granules are moved forward by a plunger, the plastic is forced into a heating chamber, where it is melted. As the plunger advances further, the melted plastic is forced through a nozzle into the mold cavity. This force keeps the mold closed during the injection process so that the plastic can take the form of the product as it cools.

Presses are rated by tonnage, which expresses the amount of clamping force that the machine can exert. Primal has 32 injection machines ranging from 80 tons to 1000 tons – which gives us enormous production flexibility.

We have the ability to do complex injection molding, including: double injection, insert molding, in-mold decoration and multi-cavity high production.

We can work with any kind of plastic, including: Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA – also known as Acrylic), High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PP), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Polystyrene (PS), Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), Polyamide (PA – also known as Nylon), Styrene Acrylonitrile (SAN), Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE), Poly Oxy Methylene (POM), and Polycarbonate (PC)

Our plastics are food gradable and tested by independent third parties to ensure the best and most consistent quality.

Producing high quality molds is a critical part of our business. Our in house mold making reduces lead time and guaranties quality. It also provides quick turnaround for any mold modification that may be required. In the effort to ensure the highest quality, we use only imported steel ( ex: SWEDISH S136 ) for our molds. Its hardness and high density allow large quantity production and help to avoid micro carbon bubbles.
